Cleveland Group Plan Commission
Commissioners & Students
Building Around Cleveland's Landmarks

Thursday, April 28th - noon

In December 2010, the Cleveland Group Plan Commission engaged in a public design charrette (facilitated by the Cleveland City Planning Commission, ParkWorks and the Kent State Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative) seeking to develop a consensus view of Downtown Cleveland built around existing signature public spaces and new development initiatives. The charrette addressed prospective connections that link development projects from the Cuyahoga River to the lakefront, including the proposed downtown casino, Public Square, The Mall and the new Medical Mart and Convention Center.

Students from both Case Western Reserve University and the Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University have studied and analyzed the charrette report. Some of those students and members of the Cleveland Group Plan Commission have agreed to particpate in a City Club forum to discuss this important design initiative.

Panelists will include students from Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland State University's Levin College of Urban Affairs. Also on the panel are three members of the Group Plan Commission: Anthony Coyne (Lawyer at Mansour Gavin; Chair, City Planning Comm), Don Misheff (Northeast Ohio Managing Partner, Ernst & Young), and Felton Thomas (Director, Cleveland Public Library).

Panel moderator will be Michael Wager, partner at Squire, Sanders & Dempsey (US) LLP and adjunct faculty at Case Western Reserve University.
