Joel Ratner, the former president of the Raymond Wean Foundation of Warren was named the President & CEO of Neighborhood Progress in January 2011.

A Beachwood native, Mr. Ratner, 46, joined the Wean Foundation in 2007 after five years at the Cleveland Foundation, where he created and managed its Neighborhood Connections program. A graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law, he has practiced law on behalf of low-income and minority clients.

At Wean, Mr. Ratner played roles in helping develop East Gateway Community College and the Mahoning Valley Organizing Collaborative, which works in Youngstown and Warren neighborhoods. He also co-chaired the Techbelt Initiative, which is designed to bring together economic development efforts in Cleveland, Youngstown and Pittsburgh.

Since its inception in 1989, Neighborhood Progress has served as a channel for foundation and corporate support for Cleveland neighborhoods and has provided $21.3 million in core operating funds and technical assistance to community development corporations in the city. Over that time, Cleveland community development corporations and Neighborhood Progress have produced more than $800 million in investments in city neighborhoods.
