An expert panel discusses the growth of biomimicry both as a science and as an industry in Northeast Ohio. The panelists also talk about the need for reaching out to other communities and sharing information on biomimicry, as opposed to trying to develop the field in isolation.

T.R. Reid discusses the reasons behind the United States being the only industrialized democracy in the world that doesn't cover the health of everyone of its citizens. He highlights a number of health systems around the world, including Germany's, in which there are private insurers that are regulated so they can't deny claims and have to pay all claims within three days. Reid points out that around 25,000 Americans die every year because they can't afford medical treatments, saying that he believes Americans will do the right thing when we realize what we're doing is wrong.

An expert panel discusses the heroin and prescription opiate epidemic occuring in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and across the nation. The panelists talk about the fact that most people getting addicted to opiates start with prescription drugs before turning to the cheaper, easier to obtain, and more potent option of heroin. They say there is a lack of fear of these opiates in young people due to the fact that they're prescribed by doctors. Judge Astrab and Dr. Delos Reyes also acknowledge that finding doctors prescribing pain medication to anyone asking for it and prosecuting those doctors is key in the fight against heroin and opiate addiction.

Dr. Noguera discusses what schools need in order to prepare young students for jobs and further education in the 21st century. He says by looking at the data, it's easy to see that the schools serving the poorest kids are the ones failing, and with 22% of children in the U.S. coming from families at the poverty level, many additional services are required in public schools. Dr. Noguera also points out that while we've become extremely adept as a society at cultivating talent with poor children in the discipline of sports, we haven't done nearly as much with the same children in education.

Norton Bonaparte discusses how Sanford, Florida went from a small southern city no one had ever heard of, to ground zero for a heated nationwide racial debate after the fatal shooting of African-American teen Trayvon Martin by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman. He corrects several misconceptions widely spread in the aftermath of the case, saying that Zimmerman was initially arrested, just not detained, and that the reason the city of Sanford didn't take his concealed carry gun license away was because they didn't legally have the right to. Bonaparte reiterated throughout his speech that the Trayvon Martin case could've happened anywhere, but since it happened in Sanford, the focus now is on how to make the city a better place.
