PKNNOVATE: 20 SLIDES 2 CHANGE THE WORLD

Think back to the summer you were 16. What was on your mind? How best to spend your school-free months? Holding down a summer job? How about how to change your community for the better?

This summer, the Cleveland Council on World Affairs (CCWA) is hosting a youth delegation from Iraq through the US Department of State. These twelve Iraqi teens and one young adult mentor are spending two weeks in our fair city studying entrepreneurship and the positive effects of innovation on communities. In partnership with The Helen F. Stolier and Louis Stolier Family Foundation and the Harvard Business School Club of Northeast Ohio, we’re also able to include seven American teens on the program as well.

Through CCWA, the group is connecting with resources in Cleveland that have found unique and entrepreneurial ways to improve life in our community. Mansfield Frazier shares how Neighborhood Solutions and Chateau Hough are revitalizing the Hough neighborhood, one basement greenhouse at a time. The founder of EDWINS Leadership and Restaurant Institute, Brandon Chrostowski, gives the group insight into merging business with social impact. The students learn about job creation as a transformative economic and social force from Dan Nolen of the Cleveland Crops program at the Cuyahoga County Developmental Board of Disabilities. Jessica Wallis shows us how she turned her passion into a driving cultural force in Cleveland. Our list goes on.

There is enormous potential in bringing this many great thinkers and doers together. Potential that should be shared. And with the help of the City Club of Cleveland and PechaKucha Cleveland, CCWA is doing just that – on July 23 at 5:30 pm, please join us to hear from Mansfield of Chateau Hough, a representative of EDWINs, Dan of CCBDD, Jessica of Ballet in Cleveland and four other Clevelanders working to make this city a better place, with a higher quality of life, and a more sustainable future. The night will also feature two presentations from CCWA’s youth delegation, who will tell us in 20 slides how they plan to change the world.

Register here to attend PKNnovate: 20 Slides 2 Change the World, and help us change the world, from Cleveland to Iraq!
