The American Dream Project Live Stream
On Tuesday, July 19th, the City Club will be hosting a symposium at the intersection of art and politics as part of a day of activities at the Transformer Station in Hingetown.
One of the those activities is the installation of the The American Dream Project: a temporary public art installation taking place on the second day of the Republican Convention. At 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, artists Nora Ligorano and Marshall Reese will unveil a two ton sculpture carved in ice of the words "The American Dream" that will proceed to melt over the course of the day. The artists, of Brooklyn, New York, have done similar installation events in previous political convention cities, melting “Democracy” in 2008 in Denver and St. Paul.
During the event, videotaped street interviews will be shot with the assembled public about the issues relating to the sculpture. This media will be posted on meltedaway.com, along with live streaming of the event that will occur here.
