Member Spotlight: Becky Morgan

Alyssa Raybuck

Member Spotlight: Becky Morgan

Occupation:
Have owned my own consulting business for 29 years; I am an operations strategist who works with leaders of mid-sized manufacturing companies to create and deliver ever-increasing value to their customers and markets.

Neighborhood where you live:
North Collinwood, right on Lake Erie

Tell us a bit about yourself:
Grew up in Kansas and have moved around quite a bit; have moved to Cleveland twice! No family in Ohio except for JJ’s (my significant other for 32 years – Jim Juknialis) cousin. I am a sports nut (basketball, football, baseball) and love to travel. Have visited about 65 countries and am adding another this Fall.

How long have you been a member of the City Club?
I’m not sure; have attended off and on over the years but became serious about supporting the City Club in the last 4 or 5 years.

Tell us about a recent forum that you enjoyed:
I have never attended one I didn’t enjoy. I always learn and gain a better understanding of different views. One of the Youth Forums was especially enjoyable as I was impressed with the content and the organization managed totally by area HS youth. Anyone concerned about the younger generation should attend one of these!

Why you are a member of the City Club?
I am passionate about education and free speech. I have reduced my primary financial support to those two causes. I can’t imagine any organizations more focused on free speech than ACLU (note: I don’t always agree with them, but they are definitely in the forefront if this fight) and the City Club of Cleveland. Where else other than the City Club of Cleveland can I so easily and closely be exposed to ideas – especially those new to me and opposed to mine!

What’s one of your favorite ‘hidden gems’ in Greater Cleveland?
There are so many in the Greater Cleveland area it’s hard to pick just one. I’ll name the free summer concert series at East Shore Park Club – the lakeside neighborhood I live in. Every Thursday nights either there or at one of the other beach clubs within a 3 block walk.

What tip would you share with someone who is attending their first forum at the City Club?
Don’t worry about what to wear. This is not a place solely for suit-wearing downtown employees. It is a place for anyone and everyone interested in listening and adding to the conversation.
