How to Vote in Ohio's 2020 Primary Election
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, Ohio's 2020 Primary Election voting will be conducted via absentee and provisional ballots. Here are the steps to take to ensure your vote gets counted:
1. Request an application for an absentee ballot no later than 12 p.m. on April 25. Visit the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections site to request one, or call 216-443-8683.
2. Fill out the application carefully and indicate what party ballot you want and “mark” that it is for the “March 17th” election. The application must be received by April 25th.
3. You will be mailed a blank ballot with a postage paid envelope. Once you have completed the ballot, put it in the envelope and either mail it or drop it off at the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections at E. 30th St. and Euclid Ave.
If you requested an absentee ballot prior to March 17th, you should be receiving it. If you mail the envelope, it must be postmarked no later than April 27th. If you drop it off at the Board of Elections, it must be done so no later than 7:30 p.m. on April 28th.
4. There are two limited exceptions to mailing in your ballot:
- If you are disabled
- If you are unable to receive mail, such as the homeless
If so, call 216-443-8683 for further information.
5. If you have moved since February 18th, please request a provisional ballot.
