Happy Dog Takes on the World Returns (Virtually)!
Happy Dog Takes on the World is a collaborative effort between several local organizations — the City Club, the Cleveland Council on World Affairs, ideastream, and the Northeast Ohio Consortium of Middle Eastern Studies — that takes place on the first Tuesday of the month at Happy Dog in the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood of Cleveland. Every month, our members and friends look forward to heading to Happy Dog for a bite to eat and a cold beer. We’re sad we won’t be able to convene this forum in person, but we’re still excited to bring our Happy Dog Takes on the World moderator, WCPN’s Tony Ganzer, together with a panel of experts to talk about kind of world can we expect post-cornonavirus crisis virtually on May 5, 2020.
As Director of Programming Stephanie Jansky talked to the team about the forum, I couldn’t stop thinking about how I could really go for my favorite hot dog and tater tots from Happy Dog. As I thought about my dream dog, I asked the team to share with me their favorite order from Happy Dog, and we want to share them with you.
Mercedes Youngston, Event Sales and Planning Manager – Classic hot dog with chili, onions, and mustard (Coney Style), with fries and a side of ranch, ketchup, roasted garlic aioli, and a local IPA
Tiffany France, Office and Customer Experience Coordinator – Pork kielbasa with caramelized onions, ketchup, and black truffle honey mustard, with a side of sweet potato fries, and a cider
Bliss Davis, Content and Programming Coordinator – Vegan burger with caramelized onions, cheddar and Korean BBQ sauce, with a side of fries and a soda water with lemon
Maria Gerstenberger, Manager of Content and Experience – Vegan dog with SpaghettiO’s, mac and cheese, vegan chili, fried egg, and a pickle spear, and tater tots with a side of buffalo sauce and truffle honey mustard, and a delicious wheat beer
Adam Crawford, Executive Chef – Classic hot dog with vegan chili, grilled peppers and onions, and Bertman’s Original Ballpark mustard, a side of fries with sunny side up egg and chupacabra hot sauce, plus a ginger beer and water with lime
Stephanie Jansky, Director of Programming – Hot dog, no bun, with caramelized onions, diced tomatoes, sharp cheddar cheese, and chupacabra hot sauce, and a side of tots with yum yum sauce and chimichurri, plus whatever cider is on tap
Dan Moulthrop, Chief Executive Officer – Hot dog with garlicky escarole, a fried egg, and sriracha, with tots on the side and a local IPA
LaTasha Crenshaw, Banquet Manager – All beef hot dog with Applewood smoked bacon and mustard
Noelle Celeste, Director of Advancement – Dog with slaw, bacon, cheddar, and garlic aioli, tots with so many sauces, and a local beer to wash it all down
Julie Kelly, Chief Financial Officer - Vegan dog with garlicky saurerkraut, spanish onions and mustard
Neil Baron, Sous Chef – Good ole' porky kielbasa with bourbon pork n bean, diced onion, tomato, pickle spear, and garnished w/ confit pulled pork (swimming in house bbq), with a side of fries with chorizo chili & white beer cheese. With the finest root beer they have to offer!
Me! (Alyssa Giannirakis, Membership and Advancement Manager) – Classic dog with everything bagel cream cheese, fried egg, garlicky sauerkraut, diced onion, Heinz ketchup, and Bertman Original Ballpark mustard, plus tater tots with yum yum sauce, buffalo wing sauce and roasted garlic aioli for dipping, and a Miller High Life (only $1 during happy hour)
