A Statement from the Board of the City Club regarding Congressional Debates
The board of The City Club of Cleveland decided Wednesday to issue invitations for debates to Democratic and Republican candidates in the congressional races in the core communities we serve. This decision was made in consideration of our long-standing tradition to hold debates in significant ballot contests and political races. Our core belief is that a thriving democracy needs strong civic institutions to play an active part in the election process to and provide a fair, neutral, and non-partisan venue for candidates and campaigns to engage with the voting public. This core belief is why the City Club has been relevant to our community for 104 years.
