Thank you. We say this often, but it’s because your membership and your support are what drives our mission forward.
This year, we grappled with tough questions. Not only the questions you asked of our speakers, but questions about free speech and the role it plays in a divided and contentious nation. And you – members, supporters, and friends of the City Club – have been unwavering in your commitment to civil dialogue and facing challenging discussions.
As the year comes to a close, I hope you'll consider going one step further and make a tax-deductible contribution toward our 2017 Year End Giving Campaign.
Our board and staff have been thinking a lot about the Creed of the City Club, written in 1916 by our first paid staff member Ralph Hayes. The words embody the spirit of democracy and inclusion that have guided our work for more than 100 years:
Our strength is indeed in our shared belief that we can come together across deep ideological divides to find solutions. And at a time marked by hostility and suspicion in local and national discourse, perhaps this reminder is more important now than it ever has been.
When you make a contribution toward our 2017 Year End Giving Campaign, your support ensures that this legacy of free speech can continue in 2018 and beyond.
If you’d like to learn more about other ways to support our work, including planned giving, corporate sponsorships, and gift memberships, please call us at 216-621-0082 and we’ll be happy to share details about those programs.
From all of us at the City Club, thank you for everything you do to move democracy forward. Our work depends on members and committed citizens like you, and we are grateful.
