"America does best when it does least. I've never actually seen us promote democracy in the Middle East." – Joshua Stacher

The "agreed framework" announced by Iran, the United States and five other world powers in April promised to lessen Iran's international isolation and economic sanctions in exchange for the elimination of its means to produce nuclear weapons. June 30 is the deadline for finalizing a comprehensive deal, detailing reductions in Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, constraints on its R&D and verification mechanisms. If that final deal is reached and signed, it will be the most significant accord between Iran and major world powers since the Islamic revolution in 1979.

How did we arrive here? What is the legal basis for the negotiations? What does this mean for U.S. foreign policy in the region? And will this deal actually prevent Iran from building a nuclear weapon? Join The City Club of Cleveland, the Cleveland Council on World Affairs, International Partners in Mission and the Northeast Consortium for Middle Eastern Studies for a conversation on the legal, political, social and economic ramifications of the Iran nuclear deal.
