Gene I. Maeroff, education writer for The New York Times, discusses contemporary issues in public education.
Maeroff, who write for The Plain Dealer before going to New York, is the author of The Guide to Suburban Public Schools and Don't Blame the Kids. He has also written for The New York Times Magazine, Saturday Review, New York Magazine, The Nation, and many others.
He received awards from the Education Writers Association, the International Reading Association, and the American Association of University Professors and is a member of the Advisory Board at the Institute for Educational Management of the Harvard Graduate School at Education, an associate in the University Seminar of Higher Education at Columbia University, and is a trustee of the Times-Guild Scholarship Fund.
