"If you look at the US as a quilt, only about 1/3 of the 'pieces' have protections for transgender people" – Susan J. Becker

Although support for marriage equality has increased nationally, understanding of gender identity has moved at a far slower clip. Transgender Americans face legal discrimination in many facets of everyday life, including housing, employment and public accommodations.

Join us for a panel discussion about the challenges of being transgender and current efforts to address discrimination.

Panelists include:

Susan J. Becker, Professor of Law Emerita, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Cleveland State University

Henry Ng, M.D., MPH, FAACP, FACP, President, Gay and Lesbian Medical Association; Clinical Director, PRIDE Clinic; Assistant Professor, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine

Stacey Parsons, Transgender Activist; Board Vice President, Margie's Hope; Facilitator, TransFamily Support Group

Darius Stubbs, Teaching Artist, Cleveland Public Theater

This discussion will be moderated by Pulitzer Prize winning columnist, Connie Schultz.
