"In an era of racial preferences, the black underclass has regressed." – Jason Riley

It is thought that efforts such as minimum wage laws, affirmative action in higher education, and soft-on-crime laws are intended to help the poor - and poor minorities in particular. However, author Jason L. Riley argues that these efforts to lift the black underclass not only fail, but often harm the intended beneficiaries.

Join us for a conversation with Mr. Riley, senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, columnist for The Wall Street Journal, and author of Please Stop Helping Us: How Liberals Make it Harder for Blacks, on how well-intentioned welfare programs could actually be holding black Americans back.
