A native of Mansfield, Ohio, Senator Brown began his political career upon being elected as Ohio's Secretary of State in 1983. He then served in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Ohio's 13th District.
Elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006, Senator Brown serves on committees key to Ohio’s future: the Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee; he serves as Ranking Member on the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee; the Finance Committee; and the Veterans’ Affairs Committee. He is up for re-election in November 2018.
Prior to holding elected office, he taught democracy and government in Poland as the nation was making the transition from Cold War communism to democracy. He’s also taught in Ohio’s public schools and at The Ohio State University.
