In July, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) announced that the Health Education Campus of Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic will host the first presidential debate between President Donald J. Trump and Joseph R. Biden, Jr. on Tuesday, September 29, 2020.
Given the limited number of tickets available for the actual debate, the Ohio Debate Commission (ODC) is hosting a virtual DebateWatch, a voter education program established by CPD in 1996 and reinvigorated in 2020. CPD sought participation from the ODC for this longstanding program prior to moving the first presidential debate to Cleveland.
DebateWatch is designed to bring people together to watch a debate, then turn it off at the end (before commentary) and discuss what they saw and heard. The goal is not to say who won or lost, it is to share views with those who may agree and those who don’t. It is to listen respectfully to others’ opinions.
Join us to hear insights from political experts, participate in breakout sessions, and enjoy the first debate in the virtual company of other Ohioans. Participation in DebateWatch2020 is free and open to all!
