In early 2020, Cleveland was ranked last as a livable city for Black Women. In response, ChiChi Nkemere and Bethany Studenic, co-founders of Enlightened Solutions sought out listen to the voices of Black women in Cleveland. They received 450 survey responses, and through data analysis, confirmed what many Black women have felt for generations in the workplace, in healthcare, and in education: Cleveland is failing Black women.
In a city and county that just last summer declared racism a public health crisis, these findings have reignited a long-standing conversation about systemic racism and structural barriers Black women face in this city.
Join us at The Happy Dog in Gordon Square at 7:30pm as we hear from the writers of Project Noir and other stakeholders on how we can better support Black women in our communities.
The livestream will be available beginning at 7:30p.m. Have questions? Tweet them at @TheCityClub or send a text to 330.541.5794.
