"We need policies based on science and physics not faith" – Robert M. Blue

How does a legacy energy company get to net zero carbon? Answering that question--while simultaneously meeting the demands of customers, shareholders and the community--is at the top of the agenda for Dominion Energy's Robert Blue. In early 2020, Blue announced the legacy energy company would set a course for net zero carbon and methane emissions by 2050 across all their business lines. It's an ambitious goal, and Dominion's 2021 Climate Report noted steady progress being made--citing a reduction in carbon emissions from electric generation by 45 percent, heading toward 55 percent by 2030.

Headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, Dominion Energy serves more than 7 million customers in 13 states, including 1.2 million customers in Ohio. In October 2020, Blue was named Chair, President and Chief Executive Officer, and became chair of the Dominion Energy board of directors in April 2021. Blue joined Dominion Energy in 2005 and has held a succession of services and operational executive roles, including Dominion Energy’s executive vice president and co-chief operating officer, and president-Dominion Energy Virginia, the company’s vertically integrated electric utility in Virginia and North Carolina.

What can we learn from Dominion Energy's progress? And what is Dominion's strategy behind a more sustainable future for their company and sector? Join us in-person at the City Club as we hear from Robert M. Blue.
