One Community Reads is a collaborative effort of the City Club of Cleveland, Playhouse Square, and Cuyahoga County’s nine public library systems to create a shared reading experience for the Greater Cleveland community.
In this year’s selection, the Pulitzer Prize-winning Invisible Child: Poverty, Survival & Hope in an American City by Andrea Elliott, we meet Dasani, a child in New York City, and her family who move from shelter to shelter, battling persistent poverty and hunger, and in search of stability and a way forward.
One Community Reads will welcome Andrea Elliott for a reading on March 6, 2023 at the Mimi Ohio Theatre.
An Evening with Andrea Elliott is this year's Eugene H. Freedheim Lecture.
The Eugene H. Freedheim Lecture is sponsored by Community Solutions in memory of Eugene Freedheim. Freedheim was a prominent Cleveland attorney who, together with his wife Mina, was active in a number of Cleveland charitable organizations. He saw The Center for Community Solutions as having a key role as a planner and community convener. This lecture fund was established by his family and friends to extend his humanitarian influence into the future.
