Strong leadership and innovative management practices have been key to Zingerman’s success. In an era of increased competition and tight labor markets, a positive company culture and identity, together with an inspiring vision for the future, can have an enormous impact on customer and staff loyalty.
In this free workshop, Zingerman’s Co-founding Partner Ari Weinzweig will share the approach to business that has led to Zingerman’s success, including the natural laws of business as introduced in his book, Zingerman's Guide to Good Leading: Part 1, A Lapsed Anarchist's Approach to Building a Great Business. Through interactive and hands-on activities, you'll learn Zingerman's 12 Laws and how ignoring these laws can lead to some big (but solvable) problems. Whether you're running a law office, a library, a restaurant, a record label, a youth soccer team, or a classroom, or whether you're the owner, the bartender, or the one who has to clean up at the end of the shift, you'll find Zingerman's behind-the-scenes practices can help you be a part of and build a flourishing enterprise of any size.
(Wait. What's Zingerman's? Well, it started in 1982 as a small, 25-seat delicatessen. Today the Zingerman's Community of Businesses includes 11 different businesses, all in the Ann Arbor area, with over 700 employees and $80 million in annual sales. Honestly, they're awesome and their food is super tasty.)
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Use new skills and knowledge to improve your own performance and your team's performance
- Employ the management philosophy that has been successful at Zingerman’s.
- Practice using new skills and concepts in a safe environment.
- Call upon a network of peers to help get past roadblocks.
This free workshop is being presented thanks to generous sponsors in conjunction with Ari Weinzweig's appearance at the City Club forum on December 4th. If you'd like tickets to that forum, you can get them here.
