The public and private sectors are in the process of investing more than $3 billion in waterfront redevelopment in downtown Cleveland in the coming years, much of it on the lakefront. Planning and public engagement is underway to imagine a new downtown neighborhood on the 25 acres where Huntington Bank Field will come down in 2029 and the 25 acres just north of that. As the Shoreway becomes a grade level boulevard, a planned land bridge will allow pedestrians to stroll from Public Square to the lake's edge in under 10 minutes.
For more than 100 years, city leaders and planners have dreamed of making the lakefront accessible to all. It appears that dream is finally coming true.
Building on the success of our 2025 convening, North Coast Era 2026 will bring together leaders from the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, the North Coast Waterfront Development Corporation, the City of Cleveland, and successful waterfront redevelopment projects from around the country to discuss best practices in design, programming, public engagement and financial success.
