Everyone is thinking about the implications of AI on jobs and occupations – how occupations will change, what new skills will be required for each occupation, and how an occupation will be expected to use AI. Many organizations that teach people (such as universities, career tech schools, community colleges, and workforce development organizations) are eager to prepare people for these evolved occupations. But if these organizations wait until occupations are clearly evolved, they will be too late in preparing the talent businesses need. How can they start to prepare people now, while occupations are evolving, and to prepare people now as companies are also integrating AI?
Dr. Cameron Sublett has developed an approach and answer to this, which he wrote about in his seminal piece, “Applied Co-Intelligence: Preparing Career and Technical Education Learners for an AI-Driven Workforce”, and he’s eager to discuss how applied co-intelligence can allow all talent providers to start preparing talent today.
Cameron is the Senior Director of Innovation and Incubation at the Foundation for California Community Colleges, where he leads efforts to design, test, and scale initiatives that expand educational access, improve outcomes, and increase economic opportunity across California’s community colleges. Dr. Sublett holds a Ph.D. in Education Policy, Leadership and Research Methods from University of California, Santa Barbara, where he also earned an M.A. in Quantitative Research Methods and Statistics.
In partnership with the Deaconess Foundation, Dr. Sublett will be joining for the annual Deborah Vesy Systems Change Champion Award forum--an award presented to a non-profit in greater Cleveland which has accomplished significant systems change or innovation outcomes in workforce development.
