Understanding Addiction from the Inside: Youth Mental Health, Stigma, and Support

Conversations about addiction often focus on what people see from the outside, while overlooking the mental health challenges, relationships, pressures, and stigma that can shape a young person's experience. For teens who are struggling themselves or concerned about someone they know, knowing when and how to ask for help can be difficult.

At this student-led forum, we will explore youth mental health and addiction from the inside out. Panelists will discuss how stigma affects help-seeking, the influence friends, family, and school can have, and how young people can identify trusted adults, healthier coping strategies, and resources for support and recovery.
