At a Crossroads: The Future of LGBTQ Rights, Policy, and Public Life in America

Over the last several years, the legal and political landscape for the LGBTQ community has evolved, placing long-standing civil rights at the center of major policy changes across the nation. Whether in the workplace, schools, or public spaces, the country has entered a new era in the fight for LGBTQ equality.

What does the fight look like today, and where does it go from here?

Since 1977, the National Center for LGBTQ Rights (NCLR) has remained one of the nation’s most influential legal advocacy organizations advancing LGBTQ civil and human rights through litigation, policy, and public education. As a nonprofit, public interest law firm, NCLR litigates precedent-setting cases at the trial and appellate court levels; advocates for public policies; provides free legal assistance to LGBTQ people; and conducts community education on LGBTQ issues.

Leading the NCLR is President Imani Rupert-Gordon, whose leadership centers intersectional justice, addressing the ways race, gender, and economic inequality shape the lived experiences of LGBTQ Americans. Imani's work brings a first-hand perspective to the state of advocacy, policy, and public discourse on LGBTQ civil rights nationwide.

Join us at the City Club as Imani Rupert-Gordon unpacks the current legal and political landscape for LGBTQ rights, and discusses the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
