Reducing Mass Incarceration & Understanding Public Safety Beyond Policing

At Campaign Zero, they know it will take deliberate action by policymakers at every level of government to end police violence. Launched in 2015, Campaign Zero serves as a research-based platform to move toward an understanding of public safety beyond policing, and supports community organizing that aims to limit police interventions, improve interactions, and ensure accountability.

DeRay Mckesson is the Co-Founder of Campaign Zero and is a civil rights activist focused primarily on issues of innovation, equity, and justice. Born and raised in Baltimore, and spurred by the death of Mike Brown and the subsequent protests nationwide, DeRay has become a key player in the work to confront the systems and structures that have led to mass incarceration and police killings of black and other minority populations.

Join us at the City Club as we hear directly from DeRay Mckesson on the work of Campaign Zero, public safety reform, and how we all can work together to reduce mass incarceration.
