Bob Gries is a person who has made a lifelong practice of accepting challenge, planning, and achieving – and through those achievements inspiring many. Not willing to take the customary way or easy path, not willing to let setbacks or personal inconvenience deflect him from his goal, Bob’s achievements and life stand as testimony to what dedication and vision can accomplish.
Thus it is that The City Club Board of Directors establishes the annual Robert D. Gries Forum titled “inspiration” to be held each year with a speaker who by his or her achievements reflects a level of accomplishment well beyond the ordinary. The City Club has a rich tradition of featuring prominent and stimulating speakers who, by virtue of their perseverance and leadership, have been catalysts for change and have enhanced the human condition of their community.
This forum has been endowed by Bob’s wife, Sally, and The Gries Generation VI Fund, Donald and Lynn-Ann Gries, Michael and Peggy Gries Wager and David and Jamie Cole, Trustees.
