The City Club Announces 2023 Free Series Lineup in Public Square

If you’re a City Club member, frequent guest, or just a follower of our social media accounts, you’ll hear us speak often of #HaveGongWillTravel. We’ve learned that the City Club is a spirit, not a space, and we have discovered many City Club “homes” outside of our building at the intersection of Euclid Avenue and East 9th Street.

One of our favorite homes is in Public Square. Since 2016, we’ve been presenting a free series of forums that addresses issues facing Cleveland and its neighborhoods.

This year, we will spend four Tuesdays in the months of June and July speaking with our region’s leaders:

June 20: Developing Downtown Cleveland as Our Neighborhood
Featuring Freddy L. Collier, Jr., Senior Vice President, Strategy and New Initiatives, Greater Cleveland Partnership; Michael Deemer, President and CEO, Downtown Cleveland Alliance; Joyce Pan Huang, Director of City Planning, The City of Cleveland; and moderated by Amy Eddings, Host/Producer “Morning Edition”, Ideastream Public Media

June 27: Mapping the Economic Future of Downtown Cleveland
Featuring Jeff Epstein, Chief of Integrated Development, City of Cleveland; Libertad Figuereo, Research Partner, Lincoln Institute of Land Policy; Amanda Lloyd, Program Director, Global Research Initiatives, Penn Institute for Urban Research, University of Pennsylvania; and moderated by Michelle Jarboe, Enterprise Reporter, Crain's Cleveland Business
Sponsored by the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy

July 11: From Riverbank to Core to Shore: The Promise of Downtown Cleveland Connectivity
Featuring Keshia Chambers, Assistant Director of MOCAP, City of Cleveland; Alex Harnocz, Director of Destination Development, Destination Cleveland; Deb Janik, Senior Vice President of Business Development, Bedrock; and Kerry McCormack, Councilman, Ward 3, City of Cleveland; and moderated by Zaria Johnson, Reporter/Producer, Ideastream Public Media.

July 18: Public Art and the Public Realm: Activating Public Spaces in Downtown Cleveland
Featuring Joe Lanzilotta, Director, Design & Strategy, LAND Studio; Deidre McPherson, Chief Community Officer, Assembly for the Arts; Terra Petras, Public Art Project Coordinator, City of Cleveland, with an additional panelist to be announced, and moderated by Allison Lukacsy-Love, Managing Director, Major Projects, Greater Cleveland Partnership.

Special thanks to this year’s City Club in Public Square sponsors, Thompson Hine and Downtown Cleveland, with additional support from Citizens Bank for their generous support of this free series.

This series is also part of City Club in the Community sponsored by Bank of America.
